Sereni attracts Bresica

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Matteo Sereni has admitted that he is keen to return to Italy with Brescia.

The 27-year-old impressed at Portman Road last season but the Tractor Boys may wish to cash in on him following relegation from the Premier League.

Sereni is also thought to be attracting the interest of Parma, Sampdoria and Lazio. Sereni joined Ipswich last summer from Sampdoria as a replacement for Richard Wright. The Italian spoke of his desire to return to his homeland.

"For it would be ideal to move to Brescia. It would be interesting to play with Baggio, my former under-21 international Bachini and an expert manager like Mazzone.

"I want to return to Italy and Brescia would be the best place to return.

This news comes as a host of English and Italian clubs are rumoured to be preparing bids for Ipswich midfielder Matt Holland. Boss George Burley will be keen to avoid a double whammy but the issue may be taken out of his hands.

If Sereni does leave the club will have to decide whether to purchase a replacement keeper or promote Andy Marshall to the No 1 shirt. Marshall has Division 1 experience from his time with local rivals Norwich.
