Sereni set to leave Ipswich

Ipswich Town are set to lose keeper Matteo Sereni to Italian club Brescia.

Ipswich boss George Burley has admitted that the former Italian Under-21 keeper hasn't had the best of times in England and he won't stand in his way if Sereni wants to leave for Italy.

Towards the end of the season Andy Marshall took over as 1st team keeper which leaves Ipswich with at least the option of a keeper if Sereni does leave. Italian club Brescia have been tracking Sereni since his move to England last summer and have been alerted to the news that Sereni is free to return to Italy.

Ipswich boss George Burley spoke to the clubs offical site.

“Matteo had a difficult season in England last year and has made it known that he would prefer to move back to Italy. “We have agreed that we will not stand in the way of that happening, in the first instance in agreeing to a loan deal and in turn a permanent move.”
