Bramble poised for Newcastle move

Ipswich Town defender Titus Bramble is poised for a big-money move to Premiership Newcastle United after the two clubs agreed a fee, believed to be around £5mill +additional fees for future international apperances.

Earlier in the week Ipswich rejected a £4.2mill offer for the defender but Bobby Robson was not prepared to give up and returned with an improved offer.

Bramble has travelled today (Thursday) to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms at St James' Park.

The talented centre back has been subject of several rumours linking him away from Portman Road since the clubs relegation from the Premier League. If personal terms are agreed, Bramble will link up with another former Tractor Boy in Kieron Dyer.

Ipswich boss George Burley spoke of his obvious disapointment to the clubs official website.

"It will be sad to lose Titus if he does agree to join Newcastle.

"He is a player I have watched from under-15 level all the way to the first team at this club.

"He has tremendous natural ability and has the potential to become a future England international.

"Unfortunately the offer Newcastle have made for Titus is something the club could not turn down at this moment in time.

"However I am confident that we are well covered in the centre of defence with a good mix of youth and experience.
