Luton and Pompey agree Taylor fee

Luton Town and Portsmouth have agreed a fee for Matthew Taylor.

Taylor was signed by Portsmouth last month but a fee could not be agreed between the two teams.

However both parties agreed the fee rather than meeting a tribunial where the fee given would be final.

Because of the worry of a wrong valuation of Taylor a fee of £750,000 including apperances was agreed on.

Speaking to the Luton club website boss Joe Kinnear spoke of the situation.

“In today’s market with the loss of TV revenue, it’s a good deal for both parties.

“We have accepted £750,000 and we wish Matthew all the best. Good luck to him. There are terms in the contract to say that should he reach the top level with England, there could be more on top, depending on how well he does.

“I’m satisfied with what we have achieved.”
