Gillingham sign Johnson

Gillingham have signed striker Tommy Johnson on a three-year deal.

Johnson arrived from Kilmarnock on a free transfer having spent 6 months there following his release from Sheffield Wednesday.

Johnson arrives at Priestfield with a good pedigree, the striker has also had spells at Celtic, Aston Villa, Derby and Notts County. Upon breaking into the Notts County team, Johnson was tipped for big things and move to Derby, Aston Villa and Celtic followed but Johnson never reached his full potential.

Gills chairman Paul Scally spoke about Johnson and the clubs ambitions to the clubs official site."This is another massive coup for us.

"Tommy is a very sought-after striker with a terrific track record.

"I'm sure most of our supporters will already know that he is strong, powerful with a tremendous shot.

"Most importantly, we know he can score goals.

"We now have four quality strikers which gives the manager a number of options and will enable us to make a real push for promotion next season."
