Lescott agrees new Wolves deal

Wolves defender Joleon Lescott has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

The talented 19-year-old has had numerous Premiership scouts sniffing round since breaking into the Wolves team in 2000 and the news will come as great relief to the Wolves faithful.

Since breaking into the side Lescott has made 90 first team apperances and broke into the England Under-20 side, the defender is also tipped to break into David Platt's Under-21 side this coming season.

Speaking to the clubs official site Lescott spoke at his delight upon signing the new deal. What happened at the end of last season was a bitter disappointment for everyone connected with Wolves.

"Now, hopefully, we can get it right. That would be the icing on the cake for me."

Wolves boss Dave Jones was also pleased to have secured one his main assets. I'm very pleased because Joleon can play a big part in the future of this football club.

"He is a sensible lad with a lot of talent and he is prepared to listen and work hard in training.

"This is an excellent deal for both the player and club."
