Birmingham City have completed the signing of defender Kenny Cunningham from Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

Blues boss Steve Bruce has been chasing the Irish international for some time now as he prepares for life in the Premiership. Cunnungham joins Robbie Savage and Aliou Cisse as new faces at St Andrews and the Blues are still chasing Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison and Polish international striker Emmanuel Olisadebe from Panathinaikos.

Cunningham has signed a 4-year-deal with the Premiership new boys and told the clubs official site of his delight at playing back in the Premiership. "I am very pleased to be signing for Birmingham because it is a very unexpected opportunity for me.

"After the World Cup I was looking forward to starting the season with Wimbledon but things happen very quicky in football.

"There were a number of reasons for my move but the main one was the attraction of Premiership football.

"It was an opportunity that was too good to turn down."
