Gregan money will strengthen Preston squad

Craig Brown has revealed that the money from the proposed sale of Sean Gregan to West Brom will go to strengthen the squad at Deepdale.

Gregan's on-off transfer to West Brom looks set to go through today leaving a big void in the Preston squad. Boss Craig Brown has promised that he will get the money to strengthen the squad though.

Speaking to the clubs official site, Brown stated what type of players he wants in, with a replacement for Gregan and another centre-half high on the list. "Sean's departure will enable us to strengthen the squad.

"We're trying to look to one, or maybe more, new players this week.

"Signings are imminent we hope. We have made preparations in case this situation arose, but even without new faces, if everyone is fit we are equipped to start if we had to.

"The squad is OK, but we are always trying to improve it and Sean's departure means we need to look elsewhere.

"He has been the captain and the talisman and his departure is accelerating the need to bring in someone or some others.

"We'll be looking to bring in both a straight replacement and strengthen other positions. We have three solid centre halves, but for this season I think we need four."
