Coventry boost as Thompson returns

Coventry City have recieved a boost at the news that star midfielder David Thompson has returned from his calf injury early.

Thompson picked up the injury in July but made an unexpected return in the 2-1 pre-season win over Rushden and Diamonds.

Speaking to the clubs official site Thompson talked about his fitness. "I felt okay and wasn't too tired.

"I'm a bit short of match practice because I've been inactive over the summer.

"The gaffer knew I needed 90 minutes so he kept me on. But I still need a few more games under my belt.

"The season starts soon and I¿m focused on playing. I can't wait to get back into the thick of it again!"

With Thompson almost back to fitness Blackburn may renew their interest in former Liverpool man.
