Wrexham fail to beat bottom side Wycombe

Tony Adams collected his first point as Wycombe manager after a lively clash with Wrexham at the Racecourse ended goalless, with yet another day of fustration for Wrexham fans.

But it wasn't as if we didn't have any chances to break bottom club Wycombe down, Hector Sam's 49th minute penalty was saved as the keeper dived to his left to push the ball away.

The Red Dragons almost caught Wanderers out with two long balls from Carlos Edwards inside his own half, one that flagged Llewellyn offside and the other went into the hands of the Wycombe goalkeeper

Wycombe were fast to attempt to exploit Wrexhams defence whenever they could, McSporran was a handful for Wrexham and Brian Carey in particular, but the experience of Brian kept Andy Dibble happy!

The attacking style of Wrexham caused Wycombe to break away quickly down the left and Darren Currie crossed some good field balls across Dibble's area, but you have to sit back and aplaud the big keepers's agility to turn in the air and palm Wycombe's away to the home fans relief.

Just minutes after entering the field of play, Mark Jones got hit attacking a Wrexham corner and needed a few minutes treatment from physio Mel Pejic, but happily Mark made it to his feet and resumed play in hope of getting a much wanted goal.

There was another let off for Denis Smith and the players on 70 minute mark as a slip in defence allowed three attackers to get in on goal and of the trio Steve Brown was unfortunate to see his dipping shot over Dibble crash against the crossbar and rebound into play!

The boo brigade rang out round the ground on the 82 minute mark, when former Wrexham striker Craig Faulconbridge made his first league appearance in eight months, after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

So in front of a crowd just over 3,000, Wrexham fail to score against bottom side Wycombe Wanderers, and anticipate a trip to Brighton next Saturday
