York City have thisafternoon made a double transfer swoop by signing young Newcastle United striker Richard Offiong and experienced midfielder Kevin Donovan - who has just been released from Rochdale.

Offiong, aged 21, a former England Youth and Under-20 International, spent a spell with City's Third Division rivals, Darlington last season, but failed to impress Quakers' fans.
He is now to spend a month on loan at Bootham Crescent, along with Kevin Donovan, 33.
Right-sided midfielder Donovan, has previously played for Huddersfield, West Brom, Grimsby, and Barnsley and should provide Chris Brass with some much needed experience in that position following Lee Bullock's departure to Cardiff and Justin Walker's return to Cambridge.
Both on City's new players are expected to make some sort of appearance in Saturday's home game with Torquay United.
