Scunthorpe Caretaker Boss: Tribute To Brian Laws

Speaking to the Iron's website, Wilcox said:

"Thursday was a sad day in a lot of ways. I've had six or seven years with Brian and he signed me as a player.

"We have worked together well, and I now see him as a close friend.

"The players are surprised and disappointed, but football is all about results and there is a fine line between success and failure.

"At the end of the day, it is not about Brian Laws or Russ Wilcox, it is about Scunthorpe United.

"We have to make sure we get the two or three wins to make sure we are okay this season.

"I don't want to build up (Saturday's) Leyton Orient game too much because we have eight games left, but it is important that we return to winning ways."

Russ Wilcox will refrain from making unnecessary changes for the visit of Leyton Orient.

Despite losing to Carlisle in Brian Laws' last match in charge, Wilcox said he could not have asked for anymore from the players.
