Reynolds: I'd Be Better Off Bankrupt
|
Reynolds is due in County Court on Wednesday for a hearing, after financiers trying to put together a takeover bid to save the club issued a petition against him.
The Sterling Consortium last week bought the Reynolds Arena, but claim still to be pursuing bankruptcy proceedings against the former safe-cracker after he failed to repay a £4m loan that he had personally guaranteed.
Reynolds said: "If I was made bankrupt my standard of living would go through the ceiling.
"What people fail to realise is that for five years I have been paying for the privilege of going to work.
"I've been working on that stadium for five years with no salary or wage. What have I done wrong? All I have done is paid off the debts of Darlington Football Club and built a new stadium."
