Sturrock takes "Hard Man" Approach!

The Southampton manager Paul Sturrock has threatened his side with a clearout if they don't improve their performances on the pitch.

Paul Sturrock, the Southampton boss who is
known to have a hard-line approach to management, has threatened his first-team
with a clear out after his teams extremely poor performance against Portsmouth
mid-week.
"It is important for them to appreciate that, if they want to be regulars in Paul Sturrock's team they must do what Paul Sturrock says," he said. "Some of them are going to lose their places because they haven't done that." I, however, do not feel that he needs to change his squad completely at the moment, as this could be a one-off, especially when playing away in such a big game, pressure could have been a factor in the team's performance. The manager also told the world that he is yet to see a half-decent performance from his Southampton side, and must be disappointed to have left his high-flying Plymouth side for this at the moment! "We've started the two matches too slowly and at Portsmouth we only played for about 12 minutes at the end," he said. "We need to mirror-image those 12 minutes for a whole match." Hopefully Southampton will accept their chance to make up for their performances so far under this guy and make him proud to be the gaffer. The club will take on Spurs this Saturday in a match I think they should be winning. And Sturrock said: "There will have to be changes in the team for that game. It is important I get a better mental attitude offensively in the team."
