Magpies trail Frankfurt defender

Newcastle United are following Eintracht Frankfurt and Macedonia defender Alex Vasoski closely. Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder will watch the defender when Macedonia play England in a Euro 2008 qualifier on Saturday.

Roeder has been trailing Vasoski for months and his spies saw the 26-year-old perform strongly - and score twice - against Brondby in the UEFA Cup last week.

Earlier this season Vasoski already claimed interest from a Premiership team. It now seems to be Newcastle, who are facing Vasoski in the UEFA Cup when the North-East club take on Frankfurt.
