Spurs consider Beckham bid

According to English press reports, Tottenham Hotspur are considering an ambitious bid to bring former England captain David Beckham to White Hart Lane.

The 31-year old megastar has fallen out of favour at Real Madrid since Fabio Capello took over as manager. Becks recently spoke of his frustration at spending most of the time on the bench.

Beckham's contract expires at the end of the season and with the lack of first team opportunities he might be desperate to move away from his so much loved Spanish capital.

Real Madrid have offered Beckham a new contract, but it remains unlikely he will sign sign on.

Several clubs have already been linked to the aspiring film star, Newcastle United were named as possible suitors with manager Glen Roeder speaking of his admiration for the former England captain.

The latest club to be linked to Beckham are Tottenham Hotpur. Several English papers quoted Spurs boss Jol as saying:

"I'll sit down and have a think about it tonight. We are well covered on the flanks already. It's a difficult one. We've got Wayne Routledge, although he's on loan, plus Hossam Ghaly and Aaron Lennon."
