No PSV loan move for Luque

Albert Luque will not join PSV Eindhoven. The Spanish forward already agreed personal terms but Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd has blocked a transfer hours before the transfer deadline closes.

A five month loan deal was almost certain to be sealed today but we can now reveal that Newcastle United have pulled the plug at the last moment.

Newcastle have probably blocked a transfer because proposed moves for both Ryan Babel and Frederic Piquionne did not materialise.

In other news manager Glenn Roeder confirmed that Newcastle will not make anymore signings during the transfer window.
