Public Safety fears stops Lazio - Roma Derby.

False claims that a Roma fan was killed by police, led to the Rome derby being abandoned by worried officals. At the moment there is still no final answer on whether the match will be replayed or not.

The First Half:

Lazio had not actually had a win in the derby since 2000 suffering 3 draws and 4 defeats including a 5-1 hammering.

The first shot of the game saw Peruzzi spill a powerful shot from Francesco Totti, but the keeper managed to recover in time.

But it was Lazio that had started the better, piling pressure upon Roma, but it was still Roma who had the chance of the half when the impressive Peruzzi saved at the near post from Mancini. He also had intervene to prvent Antonio Cassano from scoring.

A shirt tug saw Simone Inzaghi tumble to the ground, but no penalty was awarded, quite wrongly. A beatiful cutback from Fiore found Corradi, who unfortunately only fire straight at Pelizzoli.

Fiore was at his brilliant best and was unlucky not to give Lazio the lead, but his angled drive hit the outside of the post with Pelizzoli well beaten.

The second half was only seconds old, when it was halted. False reports had somehow filtered through to the crowd that a young Roma fan had been killed in a collision with a police van.

Despite announcments that it was untrue the supporters demanded the match to be called off. The officals attempted to calm everything but after ten minutes Roberto Rosetti led the players off the field, for a veru unsatisfactory end to the Rome Derby.
