Lazio - Roma: The aftermath.

Where next for the derby, what with news of conspiracy theories and the fact that, the match could be replayed behind closed doors, I am going to take a look at the events that led us to this sad outcome.

Add to this the possibility of a ban on playing at the Olimpico and you have to question what is happening in the capital?

First the facts, the game was called off at the very beginning of the second half, when false rumours of a child having been killed by a police van began to circulate the ground. This was followed by various authorities claiming that the entire thing had been orchestrated by the fans in an attempt to prove their own power. To back this up some what 4 Roma fans that have since been arrested admitted telling their captain Francesco Totti that they had spoken to the child’s parents, which as we know is false?


Roma and Lazio are of course 2 clubs in deep financial trouble, and it is being suggested that this was a demonstration by the fans on what would happen if either of the clubs were allowed to go under, that Rome would literally burn. They showed that they had the power to have a match called off, they in essence took an entire stadium hostage.

People would rather believe the Ultras version of events than the police version, want to think of what would happen to Italy’s capital if either of these sides are relegated because of bankruptcy? No me neither.
