Match report: Lazio vs Bologna
By Dave Eadevic
March 26 2004
Bologna won Lazio 2-1 in a game that should have been played 2 weeks ago, but had been postponed because of heavy snow. The result however flatered Bologna and Lazio can feel themselves hard done by.
It was a good game right from the start, the first few seconds saw a Corradi shot go inches wide from the edge of the penalty area. In the following minutes Stam, Inzaghi, Liverani, Cesar and Corradi all went close, but couldn't beat the impressive Pagliuca.
Lazio appeared to be in complete control, but a shock was in store for the Roman side on the 34th minute, Bologna took the lead. Signori, who is of course edging closer to that magical 200 goal mark had a shot deflected off Stam and past Peruzzi. Bologna 1 Lazio 0.
The goal was against the run of play and Lazio to their credit reacted quickly A Cesar cross found the head of Corradi, Pagliuca managed to parry, but Fiore pounced and put the ball into the back of the net. Bologna 1 Lazio 1.
2nd Half.
Almost constant Lazio pressure, was making Bologna just rely on quick counter attacks and it was from one of these that they managed to score what turned out to be the winner. Amoroso, with wonderful chest control managed a shot which went past Peruzzi for the second time. Totally against the run of play but Bologna 2 Lazio 1.
Then drama the Referee signaled for a penalty to Lazio, for what he believed was a foul on Inzaghi, however the linesman signalled that there had been no foul and the ref changed his mind.
It was all a bit much for Mihajlovic, who was sent off for a bad foul on Nakata, which just about ended Lazio's hopes for a win.
All in all the result was very harsh on Lazio, but its goals that win games.
