Ranieri still to leave as Chelsea turn to Italy

The news yesterday that Sven Goran Eriksson won't after all be joining chelsea has caused a bit of head scratching and a turn towards a different Italian to be in charge next season.

Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi, both find themselves in the frame to take over the job once Ranieri leaves in the summer. And they will both find themselves in the position of taking over at a club, where the fans are happy with what they have got and don't want a change.

In fact from the outside its difficult to see why Chelsea want rid of Ranieri at all, second place in the premership, still in the champions league and lets not forget he guided them to 4th last season without Russian Billions.

But the new comand at Stamford bridge are determined he is leaving and to that end have turned to Italy to provide the answers in the shape of Roma boss Cappello and Juve's Lippi.

Lippi could have the added incentive of bringing Pavel Nedved along with him from Juventus, but it is surely Cappello who would be favourite for the roll.

Both have of course been linked with the soon to be vacant managers job at internatinol level and whoever does take over from Trap come the summer will have to resisit the charm of Russian billions.
