Manchester United set to battle Juventus for Ajax

With the news that Juventus had made a major step forward in the race to sign Ajax's Rafael van der Vaart, Manchester United are to look at ways of matching Juventus's offfer. A lot will depend on exactly how much Ajax rate Igor Tudor.

Juventus are willing to offer the defender plus cash to secure the services of the highly rated van der Vaart. It is believed that Tudor would be happy enough to make the change to Holland as he would be guaranteed first team football.

Van der Vaart himself has expressed a preference of moving to either Manchester or Barcelona, but Juventus remain quietly confident of luring him to Turin.

In fact when looked upon there are enormous similarities between Manchester United and Juventus this season, both have under preformed by their own standards and both are set for major re-building work come the summer. It could also be argued of course that Juventus are the Man Utd of Italy with most of its support coming from outside its host city. So it seams mildly ironic that they seam set to clash on a number of transfers this summer.
