Roma News: No to Olympics for Totti and Cassano

Marcello Lippi has moved quickly to end any controversy over the possible selection of Roma pair Francesco Totti and Antonio Cassano for the Olympic Games. The press had been calling for both players to go to the games as away of saying sorry to Italy fans after a terrible Euro 2004.

But it had outraged Roma president Franco Sensi, who said he was willing to fight to keep the pair from playing in Athens, as it would have meant them missing the begining of the Serie A Season.

Lippi however took the step of talking to Totti and Cassano and made it clear to them that they would not be required for the olympics, but will be picked for a friendly in August.
