Roma outmanoeuvre Arsenal in race for midfielder

Until yesterday it looked like Arsenal were favourites to win the race in signing transfer-listed Sienna midfielder Rodrigo Taddei.

But news in the Italian press is stating that he has signed an informal agreement with Roma for when he eventually leaves Sienna.

As soon as Sienna placed him on the transfer list there were a host of enquiries Juventus, Inter Milan and Arsenal were all interested in the left-sided winger.

But now Roma are set to land a January loan deal with a view to the move becoming permanent in the summer.
