Newcastle and Arsenal linked with Marseille defend

The French media are today linking both Newcastle and Arsenal with a possible January move for Marseille defender Abdoulaye Meite, he is greatly admired by Arsene Wenger and Newcastle, who were alerted to him by playing against Marseille in last years UEFA cup.

He plays his international football for the Ivory Coast. Arsenal are reckoned by the French Media to be favourites to land him, should he be allowed to leave the Stade Velodrome, but Marseille are determined to hang on to him.

Newcastle though may have a bit more luck with another Marseille, they are said to be interested in Habib Beye could very well be allowed to leave the club during the transfer window and Newcastle are said to be interested.
