Newcastle United’s reported interest in Deportivo La Coruna’s Jorge Andrade, could be dead in the water before its really had a chance to get going, with a firm no already received from Deportivo.
Speculation had it that Souness was ready to offer 8 million for Andrade to become the new partner of Jean-Alain Boumsong at the heart of the defence.
But Deportivo were quick to respond:
"Andrade is not for sale,".
"I do not have any official news on this subject but, at this moment, Depor does not want to talk about an exit for Andrade.
"He is a key player for us."
He has a contract which runs until 2009, which includes a 41 million pound buy out clause, so any move looks very unlikely.
