Real Madrid did get option on Steven Gerrard

Spanish sports newspaper Marca is today insisting that Real Madrid did get an option on Steven Gerrard, as part of the deal that saw Fernando Morientes sign for Liverpool.

Liverpool are denying that any such deal took place, but the paper is adamant that it has, but stated that Liverpool refused to put it in writing,
fearing a fan revolt if they did.

Gerrard almost left Liverpool to join Chelsea in the summer but a last minute change of heart saw him remain with the Merseyside club, but now Real feel that they can tempt Gerrard to La Liga, in the summer.
