No West Brom move for Argentine star

Matias Almeyda much touted move to West Brom, is not now going to happen after the player announced his retirement from the game. He was supposed to come to West Brom’s aid after signing a contract back in December, but that has of course fallen to pieces now.

The signing has been setback by problem after problem and it has now forced boss Bryan Robson to look elsewhere, speaking on the clubs official website Robson had this to say:

"It's very disappointing news because everything was agreed."

"Almeyda is a player I thought would have done a good job for us."

"But he has decided to stay in Argentina because of family problems and we have to respect his decision and move on."

"We are now channelling all our efforts into bringing in other targets."
