No burning Candela for Southampton

Harry Redknapp was shocked to find out that Vincent Candela was about to sign for Bolton, he had thought he had landed the Roma player and thought he had a deal sorted, but later it turned out he had been piped at the post by Bolton.

Speaking to the clubs website he stated:

"I went to Rome in midweek and thought I had tied up a deal for Candela, who has played for France and is a fantastic player."

"I did a deal for him to come on loan until the end of the season and I was expecting a phone call last night to say he had arrived.”

"Then I got one to say he was with Bolton."

"I thought he must have got lost, but it looks like he will sign for them."
