Birmingham: Shoot first ask for papers later?

It has been reported in a Sunday paper that Birmingham City’s transfer day swoop for Walter Pandiani, may have actually been completed after the transfer window closed, therefore rendering the move illegal.

If this does indeed turn out to be true, it could allow Southampton to appeal their result against Birmingham in which, the Uruguayan striker, known as 'The Rifle' scored on his debut.

In theory they could ask for the game to be replayed, or for the match to be declared forfeited on the grounds that Birmingham fielded an illegal player.
