Barcelona star Encourages Man City’s SWP to Spain

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has publicly stated that he would like Barcelona to step up their interest in Shaun Wright-Phillips and he believes the winger will be a runaway success in La Liga. Despite being currently injured Wright-Phillips has been an undoubted star for the last two seasons.

And this has made clubs sit up and take notice, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, is known to want to take the player to Highbury. The bookies actually make Arsenal favourites for his eventual signature, taking into account the way Arsenal fans feel about his stepfather, Ian Wright, they may have a point.

But Barcelona firmly believe they can tempt him to Spain and this may be the best bet for City, who while they would still be loosing a player, would not have to face him week in week out, whoever gets him it will cost them in the region of 17 million. Its about to be an interesting summer.

"Shaun is a very quick winger and a great player," said Xavi. "He would be a great success in our team."
