Spurs boss admits Beckham admiration

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy, who’s club today announced a £1 million profit for the last six months of 2004 has spoken of his admiration for local boy David Beckham. And although Spurs really only want to invest in young players and their future, refused to rule out a summer move.

"We are always looking to strengthen the squad," explained Levy to Sky Sports News. "I wouldn't want to exclude any one individual player. “

"The club is in a good financial position and, should opportunities arise, then obviously it's something we'd be prepared to look at. “

"I think the strategy generally is where we can, we'd try and buy British; where we can we'd obviously prefer younger rather than older players. “

"David has roots in North London and he is a great player, but I think as far as this sport is concerned clearly it's a team sport and is not based around any one player."
