Georgy Yartsev offered his resignation as the Russian national team coach, this afternoon and it was duly excepted by the union’s president Vitaly Mutko.

It follows russia’s disappointing away draw against Estonia last week, which left in World cup hopes in tatters.

But his reign in charge was marred by problems apart from football and a lot of insiders are blaming Political differences as the real reason for the split.
