Deportivo striker in cheap shot

Newcastle, Birmingham and Fiorentina have all been offered Deportivo striker Walter Pandiani at a knock down price. Deportivo are believed to want around €4.5million for the player known as the rifle, down from 12 million only a few months ago.
It was thought he would join Barcelona, but that has been quietly shelved when it emerged he would only be a perennial substitute.
Birmingham would seem to be in the driving seat as the player is already at the club, but Birmingham want the 500,000 they paid Deportivo to be included in any potential deal and this may be a sticking point for Deportivo.
Newcastle are at the moment chasing bigger names, but could return to a deal for Pandiani, should these fail to materialise.
