Real Eye AZ Stars Again

Among the interested spectators of yesterday's UEFA cup clash between Villarreal and AZ Alkmaar were a delegation of Real Madrid scouts including Real's technical director Arrigo Sacchi.

Yesterday wasn't the first time that AZ players caught the attention of Real scouts.
They checked on Jan Kromkamp earlier this season. It seems Real are now interested in more of AZ's stars including the likes of Denny Landzaat and Joris Mathijsen. Mathijsen didn't play yesterday because of a slight injury.

Real Madrid are actively seeking for quality players who don't wear the label 'superstar' or 'galactico' as Madrid fans like to call it. Real desperately wants to close the gap between them and leaders Barcelona. Sacchi is well aware of the fact that buying superstars only won't help. Real have changed their transfer policy a bit. A good example is the purchase of tenacious midfielder Tomas Gravesen, who left Everton for Real Madrid back in January.
