Hugo Viana ‘I want Sporting not Milan’

Newcastle United’s Hugo Viana has revealed that his main priority is to sign for Sporting Lisbon, and a move to AC Milan, while flattering is not what he is interested in at the moment.

Speaking to The Journal Viana stated:

"Newcastle and Sporting are meeting again this week to discuss my future."

"I hope to play in Lisbon for the next few years but I am a professional and I will play anywhere. If Sporting are happy to pay Newcastle what they want, that is the perfect scenario. I'd like to stay in Portugal for the sake of my family and because I am enjoying my football again here.”

"I have heard of the interest from Milan. When Milan and Inter are linked with any player, it is very flattering and it's no different for me. Sporting are a huge club but those two are bigger, with worldwide reputations. It is going to be an interesting summer for me."

But what remains to be seen is can Sporting find the five million Newcastle want for the player, because if they can’t the destination may not be up to the player as Newcastle are unlikely to alter their position.
