Barcelona priced out of Spurs raid

Barcelona cannot afford Spurs keeper Paul Robinson according to his manager Martin Jol. He was linked with a move to Spain last week, despite Spurs instance that he was not now nor ever had been up for sale.

But Jol stated:

"They are probably the only club in the world not to have a shirt sponsor so they are still fine in terms of money, but I still can't imagine they could afford to buy an England goalkeeper from England.

"How many top English internationals go abroad? Not many. Only Real Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan - no other clubs - can afford the sort of money it costs to buy young English players and such moves just don't happen very often."

Barcelona though, despite what the Spurs boss thinks could afford him. It’s just very doubtful they will be willing to spend that amount of cash on a goalkeeper, any keeper.

Robinson has three years of his Spurs contract still left to run.
