Saviola seeks Barca talks

Javier Saviola who has been linked with a move to the Premiership, with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool all said to be interested, has demanded talks with Barcelona over his uncertain future.

He realises that his time at Barca is almost certainly at an end, but that does not mean he has completely given up on remaining a Barca player. A year spent at Monaco has not dented his enthusiasm for the Catalan Giants with him stating:

"I will have a meeting with Laporta when I return to Europe but the only thing I know is I will do the pre-season work with Barcelona.

"Carlos Bianchi is a very successful coach and, when I had the chance to talk with personally with him, I liked his way of thinking about football. I would also like to be in the same team as Riquelme, I know him from the national team.

"It is very important for me to have the chance to be with those two."

"I have asked myself several times why I don't have a place in the team but it is difficult to explain. When I returned from the Olympic Games last year the club had signed new players."
