Spurs: Arnesen had Five million buy out clause

Swiss Newspaper NZZ was yesterday claiming that the soon to be former director of football Frank Arnesen had a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Spurs for five million pounds.

Spurs could still theoretically demand more, if Chelsea want to avoid the FA, where they would surely get at least a three point deduction following the Ashley Cole Incident, and certain sections of the press, seem to feel it could be as high as 12 points.

However legally it seems, that the maximum Chelsea would have to pay out would be five million pounds, not the ten million plus players that has been suggested. The ball is still in Spurs court for how they want to play it, but it would seem that if it did end off in court, they would receive no more than the five million in the contract.
