Ukraine are close to qualifying for the World cup for the first time in their history. A goal from Chussin with just ten minutes left to play, was enough to see off European champions Greece.
It was in fact the Greeks first defeat on home soil for almost three years, and the European Champions are in danger of missing out on World Cup qualification altogether following Turkey’s 6-0 win away to Kazakhstan.
It will of course be a chance for one of the modern greats of the game Shevchenko to play in the World Cup for the first time, should the Ukraine go on to secure qualification.
They lead their group with 23 points from 9 played, followed by Turkey with 16 points from the same number of games.
