No more Internationals for Villa star

Former Newcastle United and current Aston Villa star Nolberto Solano has stated that he is retiring from international football. He has called time on his International career at a time when Peru’s Qualification for the World Cup looks remote at best.

They currently lie 8th, three points behind Uruguay in 5th. Solano stated:

'It's time to give opportunities to other players.”

'Now I have to focus on my club. I have to talk with Aston Villa's board to see what my situation is in the squad.'

It was probably Nobby’s insistence to play international football that cost him his Newcastle career, with the then boss Sir Bobby Robson, upset about Solano’s constant trips abroad.

He is however viewed as an out and out hero back in Peru, and felt like he could not let his country down.
