Newcastle United: Freddy says no SWP bid

Freddy Shepherd denied that Newcastle has made any move for Manchester City Winger Shaun Wright-Phillips. It had been stated that there was a cash plus players deal on offer but Freddy denied this, speaking to the Mail on Sunday he stated:

"I don't know how this story started or where it came from, but it is patently not true."

"I suspect that one or more clubs are being mischievous in starting the speculation.

"Although we're on the look-out for players who can make us successful in the future, this young man is not part of our plans."
