Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, looks today to be on his way out at Liverpool, there has been speculation all weekend that Gerrard had fallen out with club officials and now today his agent Struan Marshall confirmed that talks had broken down and would be unlikely to be re-opened.
So at the moment he would seem to have a straight three choices:
1)Real Madrid; the glamour, the prestige, the chance to play for arguably the biggest club on the planet. But it can have its draw-backs, just ask Michael Owen, being the best in your position, does not guarantee your place a Madrid.
2)Chelsea; they have the money, they have the desire to bring him to Stamford Bridge. A lot of imponderables here, but where they do not provide say the glamour of Madrid, they will offer him the chance to continue in the Premiership.
3)Liverpool; although its looking unlikely at this moment in time, there could still be a chance for Gerrard to remain at the club. He has been there a long time, man and boy, and that I would imagine would have to count for something.
If he does leave however it would offer Rafa Benitez a healthy chunk of cash to operate in the transfer market, in fact reports from Spain have suggested that Benitez, would in fact like to do that very thing.
