Spurs finally land Davids

It is quite possibly the longest running transfer saga ever, about three years ago it was rumoured that Edgar Davids was going to Spurs, then again a year later, then about fifteen times last summer.

When the rumours started again this summer, I doubt I was alone in being sceptical, but at long last they have proved correct and Spurs have landed their man.

Tottenham Coach Martin Jol, could barely contain his delight saying:

"It's terrific that he is joining us. He will lift the team's performance."

“He is one of the most versatile midfielders, a playmaker, a ball-winner with great stamina and huge charisma.

“We have a young squad with an average age of 23 and I believe Edgar will come in and lead by example.

“This is a player who went to Barcelona when they were middle of the league and took them close to winning the title."

Davids will want to make up for last season, where he spent most of it on the bench for Inter Milan and fell out with Inter bosses.
