Manchester United deny Owen interest

Claims this morning that Manchester United had joined Newcastle United in their pursuit of Michael Owen, have been denied by the Old Trafford club.

A spokesman from Real Madrid had stated that there had been a bid from Manchester but this has been denied by Manchester United communications director Phil Townsend who stated:

"We have had no contact with Real Madrid over Michael Owen."
