Spurs fans praised

Spurs coach Martin Jol took time out to praise his fans over their welcome for Dutchman Edgar Davids, who made a second half appearance in a friendly against Porto.

Speaking to the official website (www.spurs.co.uk) Jol stated:

"Edgar came on in the second half, he hadn't played for a couple of months so it was good for him and the fans gave him a good feeling when he came on.

"That is always important for a player, to know he's welcome and Edgar knows he is welcome at Tottenham.

"He has seen that atmosphere now and he must know there aren't a lot of 'friendlies' in England!

"The crowd always lift us here and I don't think many clubs would have 36,000 for a friendly. They were terrific again."

Spurs won the game 2-0.
