Everton to land flying Dutchman

Everton look to have finally secured the signature of Andy Van der Meyde from Inter Milan after the midfielder flew in to Everton for a medical.

Everton are thought to have paid around 2 million pounds for the Dutch International, who had been linked with summer moves to the likes of Monaco, Roma, Fiorentina and Middlesbrough.

The arrival of Luis Figo at Inter meant the end for Van der Meyde as he must have regular first team football to stand any chance of being in Holland’s world cup squad.

David Moyes was also looking to wrap up a loan move for Roma defender Matteo Ferrari. Who he sees as a replacement for the injured Alessandro Pistone, speaking this morning Moyes stated:

"I aim to bring in a couple of new players. Hopefully Ferrari will complete his move today.

"I don't know if we can get him registered in time for Saturday.

"Van der Meyde is coming in for a medical and we will see how it goes. Hopefully the clubs can agree a fee."
