Villa get their man

Aston Villa have signed PSV Eindhoven defender Wilfred Bouma in a deal worth 3.5 million pound. Boss David O'Leary has sspent most of the summer trying to boost the Villa defence and today finally got his man.

Wilfred Bouma stated shortly after the move:

"I know Aston Villa want to be challenging at the top of the table and I want to help. I want to do my best to improve the club.”

He actually began his trade as a left winger, but came into his own when asked to switch to the defence, eventually becoming a cultured defender, who should add some steel to Villa’s back line.
