Benfica have dismissed Liverpool's 18 million euros bid for Simao and have landed Italian striker Fabrizio Miccoli on loan from Juventus. They were asking for 20 million euros and contacts between the teams have been put down.
Simao Sabrosa have caught Liverpool´s attention, but their 18 million euros offer was not enough to convince Benfica to let the team captain and present top goalscorer go. But there were only 2 million euros standing between the two sides, and it was enough to call the negotiations off.
As well as keeping Simao, Benfica got the loan for one season of Italian striker Fabrizio Miccoli from Juventus. The Italian team was not going to use him and was looking for another place to loan him out.
