Are Spurs the side to turn around atroubled talent

On the last day of the Transfer window, few clubs have been as busy as Spurs, with enough comings and goings, to make one wonder if a revolving door has not been installed at White Hart Lane.

First the news that they have captured Jenas in a seven million pound deal from Newcastle, an event that was actually greeted by cheers on Tyneside, so much has the once promising young midfielder’s stock dipped of late.

He will be hoping for a reversal of fortunes and a chance to play alongside, Edgar Davids, could very well provide that, because there is little doubting his talent, if the application with which it is indeed used can be called into question.

Jenas on his day is a superb performer, with quality and a good footballing brain, but those days are often to far apart for a lot of people’s liking.

If Spurs can grab him by the scruff of the neck, teach him to concentrate, and persuade him not to believe his own press, they will have a very good player, one that could very well excel alongside Davids, or Carrick.

If they get the player with the attitude all too often displayed on Tyneside, they will be calling for his head by the end of the year.
